Brandon Alger, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound left-handed pitcher from Leo high school, has committed to Indiana Tech. Alger pitched Leo to a 26-6 record in 2009 and a sectional title. He posted a 10-3 record with a save and posted 82 strikeouts to only 18 walks in 76 plus innings pitched. At the plate, Alger hit .398 with 3 home runs, 23 runs scored, and 37 RBIs. At a PBR showcase this fall, Alger possessed an easy, smooth and loose arm action. His fastball sat in the low-80s with some late run, topping at 82 mph. He has good extension, creates a good downward angle and locates all three pitches. His curveball was also impressive with a two-plane break at 72 mph. Look for Alger to have another stellar season. |
