St.Vincent Sports Performance focuses on assessing and addressing the body’s muscular balance.  In doing so, sport-specific movements become more efficient, the risk of injury decreases, and athletic performance increases.  Our system builds the foundation for sport specific movements and provides a link to the upper and lower body by addressing core strength and stabilization.

 

Each of our performance coaches are credentialed by either the National Strength and Conditioning Association or the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, or both.  With over a century of combined experience, the SVSP staff provides solid coaching with a scientific, medically based approach.

Justin O’Conner, P/C/SS, Cowan HS
On the mound and at the plate, Justin O’Conner produced in a big way for Cowan high school to help the Blackhawks advance in the Class A state tournament. In the week, the 6-foot-1, 195-pound Arkansas recruit pitched 7 innings of 1-hit baseball with 15 strikeouts and no runs to help the Blackhawks win their third straight Sectional championship. 
While O’Conner was impressive on the mound, he posted a state record-tying performance at the plateO'Conner hit two home runs to tie him with 2001 Riverton Parke graduate Jared Martin for the all-time career state home run record at 51. The multi-talented senior, projected first rounder in the 2010 MLB draft, already shares another state record for home runs in a game with four. O’Conner was 6-for-8 with 2 home runs, 7 RBIs, 9 runs scored and 5 walks. 
For the season, O’Conner is 5-0 with 4 saves. In 30 innings he has recorded 68 strikeouts and only allowed 7 hits and 4 runs. At the plate, O’Conner has broken numerous single-season and career offensive records at Cowan. This season, he has a .500 batting average with 13 doubles, 10 home runs, 48 RBIs, 52 runs scored, 16 stolen bases, 32 walks, and a slugging percentage of 1.095.

TJ Weir, SS/P, Kokomo HS
TJ Weir is one the biggest reason why Kokomo is ranked in the top 5 in the state with a 24-3 record at week’s end. The 6-foot, 185-pound shortstop and right-handed pitcher enjoyed a monster week in helping the Wildkats go 4-0 with North Central Conference wins over Huntington North and New Castle.
Weir started the week by going 2-for-2 with a triple and a runs scored as the Wildkats beat Huntington North 6-4. The following game against Huntington North, Weir pitched the team to a 5-1 victory. Weir earned a complete-game victory on the mound against conference the rivals throwing a 3-hitter with 8 strikeouts and hit a home run at the plate, 2 RBIs. 
On Saturday, Weir set the Kokomo single season home run record with 12 when he hit his second home run of the day. In game one, Weir went 3-for-4 with a home run, two singles, 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. In the following game of the double header, Weir was 1-for-2 with a home run, 3 RBIs and a run scored as Kokomo took two from New Castle 12-2 and 12-7.
For the season, the Ball State recruit is batting .450 with 12 homers, nine doubles, two triples, 43 RBI and 38 runs scored. On the mound, he holds a 1.95 ERA and a 5-0 record.

Spencer Sapp, LHP/OF, Jasper High School
Jasper High School won a remarkable six games and extending its winning streak to 13 games this week. Spencer Sapp was right in the middle of the highlights.
 
Sapp, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound outfielder and left-handed pitcher, began the week by pitching against Gibson Southern. Sapp threw 6 shutout innings with 14 strike outs as the Wildcats won 7-3. At the plate, Sapp reached base 4 of the 5 times.
 
After beating Mount Vernon-Posey, Jasper topped the ranked Vincennes Lincoln (19-4) by a score of 13-2. Sapp was 2-for-4 with an RBI double and 3-run home run.
 
In the Indiana Baseball Hall of Fame Classic in Jasper, Sapp played left field against Evansville North, Jasper won 10 to 5. Later in the tournament, Sapp beat Perry Meridian striking out 7 and only gave up 4 hits. Jasper went on to win the tournament by beating Evansville Harrison and Sapp finished 5-for-10 at the plate.

Matt Jefferson, LHP/OF, Lawrence Central HS
In a week where almost anyone of Lawrence Central’s pitchers could have won the Player of the Week, Matt Jefferson received the honor.   A left-handed pitcher and outfield, the Northern Kentucky recruit pitched 2 plus innings on Wednesday, striking out 6 in the 12-1 victory over Mt. Vernon-Fortville. On Saturday in Marion County quarterfinal action, senior Matt Jefferson went the distance for the Bears giving up 3 hits and striking out 13. Warren Central could only muster across one unearned run. For the week, Jefferson pitched 9 2/3 innings, allow only 4 hits, no earned runs while striking out 19.
On top of Jefferson’s outstanding pitching performance, he also collected the game winning single to give the Bears a 3-1 victory over Warren Central.  At the plate, Jefferson went 4-for-7 with two doubles, 3 RBIs, and 3 runs scored. Lawrence Central’s flawless week includes: Broad Ripple (18-1), Mt. Vernon, Lawrence North (5-1), and Warren Central.
For the week, Lawrence Central’s pitchers threw 23 innings, gave up 9 hits, 4 runs and struck out 42 in four games.

AJ Boyll, SS, North Central-Farmersburg HS
AJ Boyll enjoyed a phenomenal week. This athletic 5-foot-10, 165-pound senior shortstop from North Central-Farmersburg High School opened the week with a bang. On Tuesday, Boyll went 4-for-4 with 4 runs scored, 4 stolen bases and an RBI against Eminence HS. Then on Wednesday vs. Eastern Greene, Boyll came back with another 4-for-4 performance that included a home run, double, 4 runs scored, stolen base, and 2 RBIs. On Thursday, his 3-for-5 day included another home run and 2 RBIs to cap the week off against 1A ranked North Davies High School.
 
Committed to the University of South Carolina-Beaufort, Boyll finished the week going 11-for-13 at the plate with 2 homeruns, double, 10 runs scored, 5 RBIs, and 5 stolen bases. For the season, Boyll is hitting .609 with 2 home runs and 21 stolen bases.

AJ Reed, LHP/1B, Terre Haute South HS
A.J. Reed has propelled No. 13 Terre Haute South back into the rankings in the Braves 10-3 start as of Monday, April 26. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound junior has established himself as one of the premier two-way talents in the state, and is overall performance last week was a microcosm of his entire season.
A left-handed pitcher and first baseman, opened the week by going 2-for-4 with two doubles and 3 RBIs against the talented Class A program Shakamak. On Saturday in a Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference showdown against Warren Central, Reed pitched game one throwing a complete game 3-hitter with 9 strikeouts. At the plate, he went 2-for-3 with a home run, double, and 2 RBIs. In game two, Reed was 2-for-3 with a pair of home runs including a grand slam and 7 RBIs to lead the Braves to a sweep and a conference best 5-1 record.
For the season, Reed is hitting an astounding .560 with 10 home runs in 13 games along with 8 doubles and 31 RBIs. On the mound, Reed is 4-0 with 36 strikeouts.

Week of April 19, 2010
Chris Rea, LHP, Cambridge City Lincoln HS
Chris Rea (right) enjoyed a no-hitter and 3 wins this week. The 6-foot-5, 170-pound left-handed pitcher from Cambridge City Lincoln HS threw a no-hitter against Tri High Saturday morning in the Eastern Indiana Invitational. Rea allowed only three base runners while striking out 11 and walking one in the contest.  Later that day, Rea pitched the 7th inning to pick up his second win of the day as the Golden Eagles went onto win the Eastern Indiana Invitational.
For the week, Chris Rea pitched 13 innings, only one unearned run, 4 hits, 22 Ks, 4 walks, and 3 wins. 
What’s more, Rea has a 4-0 record with 32 Ks in 18 innings pitched and only allowed two unearned runs and 7 hits on the season. 
Cambridge City Lincoln improved to 9-1 and returns home Tuesday to face Union (Modoc).

Week of April 12, 2010
Zack McKinney, C/RHP, Mt. Vernon-Fortville
In a week that had several impressive candidates, Mt. Vernon-Fortville junior C/RHP Zack McKinney earned PBR Player of the Week honors by delivering a statistically staggering week. During a string of four games last week, McKinney pitched 7 plus innings, striking out 17 and hit 3 home runs with 14 RBIs. 
McKinney’s performance helped No. 37 Mt. Vernon-Fortville to a 3-1 week, including victories over Fishers and conference foe Delta. The right-handed hitting catcher began last Tuesday when he went 2-for-4 with 2 home runs and 7 RBIs. Then in a doubleheader sweep of Delta on Saturday, McKinney continued his dominating ways.
Last season, McKinney hit .341 with 5 home runs. On the mound, he went 6-2 with 50 strikeouts. If McKinney can keep up his current pace, he is on track to crush last season totals.

Week of April 5, 2010.

 

Justin Glass, OF, Fort Wayne Carroll HS
Justin Glass opened the season with a bang, as the 6-foot-2, 180-pound left-handed hitting outfielder went 9-for-13 with three home runs, two doubles, two stolen bases, 8 RBIs and seven runs scored during FW Carroll’s opening weekend. Glass, who’s committed to the University of Cincinnati, also played a flawless centerfield.
Glass opened his phenomenal week by going 3-for-5 with three RBIs. His home run propelled Carroll to a 16-2 rout of Jeffersonville in the Chargers first game of the season.
During a 10-9 loss to New Albany, Glass went 3-for-4 with two home runs and 4 RBIs.  The Chargers out hit the Bulldogs 16-6, but defensive miscues prevented Carroll from putting together a late inning rally. 
In the third game of the weekend, Glass went 3-for-4 with a double, 2 runs, and a RBI, but Floyd Central’s right-handed pitcher, Louisville-bound, Jeffery Thompson was too much for the Chargers as they fell 11-7. 

Along with his hitting prowess, Glass also possesses a strong throwing arm from the outfield and a sub 7.0 60 time.
